What do I need to obtain a long-term visa?
To obtain a long-stay student visa (D), you need to be enrolled in a full-time course of at least 27 weeks and 20 hours per week.
Our Super Intensive Spanish course (100% in-person in Barcelona with a maximum of 8 students) meets the official requirement and allows you to progress quickly while we prepare your documentation with you.

Can I apply without an acceptance letter?
No. You must provide proof of admission with start and end dates. We will send it to you 48–72 hours after payment.
What do I need to consider if I am a non-EU student?
Important for non-EU students:
Students from non-EU countries can use a long-stay student visa as the first step in the immigration process to Spain.
There are several types of student visas with different lengths. You must apply for yours at the corresponding Spanish embassy or consulate and submit the required documentation.
Important notice: To begin the process, you must be accepted on a course: that’s why our 48–72-hour acceptance letter is key to securing your appointment as soon as possible.
How many hours are required for a student visa?
Full-time: a minimum of 20 hours per week at an accredited institution. Our Super Intensive program meets this requirement.
How far in advance should I apply for the visa?
Recommended:
For long term student visa (7 – 12 months), the time needed to apply is approximately 4 months: 2 months to gather the required documents + at least 2 months for the consulate to process your visa application.
For stays up to a month, the visa application will take around 4–6 weeks: 2 weeks to gather the required documents + 2–4 weeks for your visa application to be processed.
The authorisation process can take time and cannot be expedited.
What can I do with my student visa?
With your student visa you will be able to:
- Travel to and from Spain while your visa is valid, without worrying about new entry procedures.
- If your stay is longer than 180 days, you can obtain your NIE (Foreigner Identification Number, also known as TIE) and, with it, open a bank account, rent an apartment in your name, get a mobile phone plan, join a gym, and manage other daily tasks in Barcelona without any problems.
- Access the public healthcare system.
- Extend or renew your visa once you are in Spain.

Accommodation
To facilitate your arrival, we offer support in finding accommodation with a host through our accommodation service or in student apartments through our partner BSP.
BSP offers rooms in shared student apartments in well-located areas of Barcelona (city centre, Eixample, and Gràcia), with fully equipped apartments (internet, appliances, and kitchenware).
The minimum stay is one month, and the contract can be adjusted to the duration of your course. In most cases, you will share an apartment with students of a similar profile.

Oxford House is located 1 minute from Passeig de Gràcia, in the heart of Barcelona, and offers spacious, modern facilities easily reachable by a range of transport options. And what’s more, you can take time out relaxing in the sun or under the shade of the palm trees in our beautiful two-level garden .
Our 1000m2 centre has 23 classrooms fully equipped with computers, projectors, and/or smart TV, as well as air conditioning and heating. We also have dedicated study spaces, and a library with a wide range of books in Spanish to really practice your Spanish.
Online Platform: MS Teams
Microsoft Teams platform serves as an additional tool to enhance students’ learning and motivation.
Each class has its own group, which students join in order to participate. After each session, the teacher writes a summary of what was done in class and provides extra material and activities.
It is also a great way for teachers and students to get in touch and interact with one another.
